Encouragement to put the Word to work

Friends - It has been a great early fall studying God’s Word together. Now we get to spend every day putting it to work.First, please pray for me as I will be speaking at several out of town events in coming weeks. Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; [3] praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; [4] that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.Colossians 4:2-4For the time being, we will NO LONGER be gathering on Thursdays. Meanwhile, I look forward to encouraging those who want to yield their hearts to put the Word to work as servants of Christ and members of one another. If you would like me to put you in touch with others who are looking to lead and serve and put the Word to work in the Lakewood area, respond to this email and I will make sure to connect you with others. I am grateful for the leadership and body of Skillman Church of Christ who allowed us to gather and study together. I AM PRAYING FOR YOU ALLYou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. [2] The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. [3] Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. [4] No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.2 Timothy 2:1-4A FINAL CHARGETherefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. [22] But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. [23] For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; [24] for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. [25] But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.James 1:21-25
